Common questions

Is my progress saved?

Yes, automatically. You can close the app at any time, even in the middle of a move, and pick up exactly where you left off. Unfinished puzzles are listed under My Puzzles.

Progress is saved on your device only. If you delete the app, your saved puzzles are deleted with it.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. A set of puzzles is built into the app and always available. Any artwork you have already downloaded also works offline.

To have the whole library available offline, open Settings, find Artwork, and choose Download all. Do this on Wi-Fi, as the full library is several hundred megabytes.

The app is taking up a lot of space

Open Settings, find Artwork, and choose Free up space. This removes downloaded artwork you are not using. Artwork for your unfinished puzzles is kept, and anything removed downloads again the next time you play it.

Can I make a puzzle from my own photo?

Yes. On the Home screen, choose to add your own photo and pick one from your library. The app only sees the photo you choose, and it never leaves your device. Very small photos cannot be used because they would look blurry as a puzzle.

Can I listen to music or a podcast while I play?

Yes. The app does not interrupt audio from other apps. You can turn the app's own sound effects off in Settings under Sound & touch.

Some images are marked "AI art". What does that mean?

Those images were made with an AI image generator rather than by a museum artist or photographer. They are always labelled. If you would rather not see them, open Settings and turn off Show AI-generated art.

Where does the artwork come from?

Most of it comes from the open-access collections of major museums, which have released these works for anyone to use. Every image is credited. Open Settings and choose Image credits to see the artist, source and licence for each one.

What does the "Expert" badge mean?

Expert puzzles have large areas of similar colour or repeating detail, so many pieces look alike. They are noticeably harder at high piece counts.

How do I make a puzzle easier or harder?

Choose the number of pieces when you start a puzzle. In Settings you can also change how strongly pieces snap together, turn piece rotation on or off, and show a reference picture while you play.

How do I remove ads?

Open Settings and choose Remove Ads. It is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it removes every ad for good.

I bought Remove Ads but I still see ads, or I have a new device

Open Settings and choose Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple or Google account you used to buy it.

I want a refund

Purchases are handled by Apple or Google, so refunds are too. On Apple devices, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use your order history in Google Play.

I found a problem with an image

If an image is wrongly credited, or you think it should not be in the app, email us with the title of the puzzle. We will look into it promptly.
